Hi everyone!

Marineman 4 is all tied up and out the door! Look for it toward the end of the month...

Cracking on with finishing 5 now...

MTV Geek did a feature recently on the best underwater characters and Marineman came in at number 3! Not bad for a character who's only been around for a few months! Here's the link...

Speaking of underwater - The sad news of today is that Jane Russell has passed away at the grand old age of 89. Watching her movie - 'Underwater!' - as a kid, was one of the key inspirations for me inventing Marineman. As I've mentioned before, I based the look of Marineman loosely on her co-star, Richard Egan. In my eight year old brain Marineman looked like Richard Egan, but in reality he looked nothing like like him!

For those of you unfamiliar with the movie, here is the 1955 trailer...Great movie but not as exciting as the trailer makes it look!

  3. Roger,

Don't panic! Marineman isn't cancelled - It will be a series of series like Hellboy or Sin City.
Believe me, I'm in this for the long haul too. It's not often you can make a dream come true and with Marineman, I have.
Doing everything myself, there's no way I could keep a monthly schedule without compromise.
I'm glad you're so passionate about the character and I aim to tell many more stories past this arc.
I hope you stay with it - I promise it will be worth it!

    All the best,

    -Ian

  4. Hi Ryan,

I'm so glad you're loving the book! It's comments like yours that make it all worthwhile!

And praise indeed to put it up there with Elephantmen!

Thanks for that and for supporting the book...

    Best,

    -Ian

P.S. I think you'll like issue 4...Look for it around the end of the month!

  5. Thank You!!! Ian!!! Glad to hear that this is not the end of MarineMan!!! And be sure to know, I am sticking around for all these stories! I just cant believe how great this book is, REALLY! it has everything I've been looking for in an underwater hero, Namor and Aquaman just never lived up or could stay consistant.Any plans on any merchandise for our hero? saw that poster you gave to that kid in the back of one of the issues, where could I snag one of those?? But I digress, looking foward to all future issues, Make Mine MarineMan!! later Ian!!

  8. Thank God. I just was flipping through Previews today and was terribly concerned Marineman was canceled. I'm glad issue #6 won't be Marineman's last adventure.

  9. Hi Roger,

Merchandise plans? Absolutely, but down the line...

The print you saw at the back of the issue was a limited print for the MCM con last year and I'm afraid they were all snapped up!

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad it's hitting the right mark!

    All the best,

    -Ian

  10. Thehorselord,

Not weird at all my friend, each to their own!

Weird would be hearing Stan Lee's voice...!

    Excelsior, true believer!

  11. Phew! I was just over Image's site and read "Finale" on the solicit for marineman 6, I almost had a heart attack. Good to know it's not being cancelled. I have a crazy passion for any and all things marine related, including sea based super-heroes, and Marineman has become one of my faves, next to Aquaman and Namor, so I really REALLY hope he sticks around.

Thanks for all the hard work, Ian. The art is beyond perfect (I love me lots of detail in my comics' art) and the story is fun and compelling. IMHO,it's better if its a series of series. Monthly's loose their shine too fast sometimes!

Here's to a whole lot more of marineman in the future!
